Ian, did you get the emergency broadcast on your phone? Gave me a fright when cooking! It's like something out of a post apocalyptic sci-fi movie!

Edit: upgraded I see now to Yellow Warning. It was Amber last I checked before heading out this morning.
Taking notice of that, pretty rare here for that, and keeping an eye on it.
I am sufficiently stocked up on food albeit frozen/chilled so hoping for no major disruption to electricity supply, as that would be costly.

I don't seem to have, maybe being an Amber warning here isn't sufficient for that.
I seem to be fortunately far enough down south, as much as Nottinghamshire is.
We aren't typically… See More
that in UK terms, but this time seem to be enough.
Seem to be in somewhat of a "sweet spot", where we don't get the worst from the north or south.
Also nowhere near the best, but I can be grateful for what it means we also miss out on.
Earlier today for hours, that meant lots of rain and persistent and driven by the wind.
But I was able to be indoors for most of that, inside a shed at the allotment where we basically achieved nothing today, and just talked.
When I got into town in the afternoon, I was again indoors for a while and seemed to have avoided much of it today.
I shall see how that develops over tonight and tomorrow.
Expecting it could get unpleasant here, but there is a difference between that and what you and others in the north are experiencing already, let alone will do.
Amber warning is still sufficient for perhaps some damage, and some less mobile people being affected.
Keep safe as best you can.
