If you didn't play The Thing when it first came out, I can tell you it was much better than I expected it to be. A remaster, while not as good as a full remake, is still a great way to enjoy this golden oldie and get some cool horror vibes based on the movie.

The graphics don't appear all that impressive for a modern remaster, but in a way I do feel trying to modernise too much takes away the character of a game a lot of the time.
I don't know the original, so I can't comment on a comparison, but this feel more fitting for a game remaster over a remake which tends to have a lot more creative freedom, not always a good thing for fans nostalgic for the original.

rasterised graphics fitted better given the resolution of the assets.
A view I have on Ray Tracing and the overall trend towards "realism", is that realism or accuracy doe snot always lend itself to the gaming experience, perhaps in part due to my eyesight, but I find fancy graphics tend to hurt readability, legibility of the game more than improving the experience.
An observation from me, as I said unfamiliar with the original, is that this seems to be in around the right place for that.
