I've been having a pretty rough time this year so far, not gonna get into details but that is the main reason I have not been around lately. However today I finally received my new mouse, the MX780 by G. Skill, which definitely brightened my day up a bit.
Just got it all set up but from the 1st impressions it seems a very solid quality mouse! The adjustable palm rest is key & makes this mouse able to fit most anybody's grip style. it comes with 2 - 4.5g weights which may not seem like much but… See More
added in with the aluminum bottom plate it makes for a nicely weighted mouse IMO. All the switches are Omron & have a great feel albeit a little stiff, although the stiffness should subside once the mouse gets broken in. Also the button placement is standard to most ambidextrous mice & feels very much the same as the button placement on my Razer Taipan.
The sensor is a Avago ADNS9800 laser sensor which allows up to 8200 DPI & again feels great to me. However the sensor is said to have acceleration so some mouse purist may not like that. The RGB is a nice touch & you can actually set all the different lights to different colors if you so desire. The lighting effects are very limited though. G. Skill claims they will offer more modes in future FW updates but as of now multi colored breathing as the only effect it has. Not a huge drawback in my eyes but others may beg to differ.
All in all I am definitely pleased with the mouse so far & do like the feel better than my Taipan. I will have to do some gaming with it before I pass final judgement on it though. Also will need to see just how well the mouse holds up to the rigors of gaming. But if it performs well with gaming & holds up as well as similarly priced gaming mice I will consider this a steal at the $50 USD I paid for it! I will report back after I get some more time with this mouse.
The big blabla about mouse acceleration *sigh* Depends anyway on what you play. And if you want pin-point accracy or a very fast reponsive mouse. Because i can react way faster with laser mouse then i can with an optical. and mousepads or glaspads or whatever are no issue. More a taste thing, then a fact. Enjoy it! Looks definetly cool!
